Career support, part 2: Connecting the dots between your job hunting artifacts

Details

Our 4th UX Content meetup about finding a job in UX was inspiring. Thanks to our brave and talented volunteer, ⭐ Shivali Meenakshi Murali ⭐, who walked us through her job hunting artifacts, we swapped stories as candidates and hiring managers to clarify how to make each artifact resonate and how to tie them all together into a cohesive narrative that matches the UX job. We walked away with ideas for how to make our own artifacts better and an earnest desire to continue supporting each other.

Career support: How to land a content design role in 2026

Details

Our third meetup was an open, honest, and practical conversation about what it takes to land a content design job in 2026. Attendees shared their experiences, challenges, and strategies for career growth in the field.

Shaping what's next

Details

Our second meetup was a big brainstorm and discussion about the purpose of the meetup. We used a Mad Lib exercise—"This group provides (value), (value), and (value) to (who) so they can (impact)"—to clarify our mission and vision.

We ran out of time to consolidate our ideas into a final statement, but examining the responses gave us valuable insights into the community's needs and aspirations that could be generalized as follows:

"The Boston UX Content meetup provides in-person content design workshops, knowledge sharing, and growth opportunities to the Boston area content designers and content-adjacent designers so they can grow as content professionals and find community."

Kickoff with special guest: Jane Ruffino

Details

We kicked things off with ⭐ Jane Ruffino ⭐, whose talk about facilitation as leadership beautifully reinforced that content is all about relationships.

You can view Jane’s talk under a different title from the 2025 Lead with Tempo conference: How I learned to herd (and love) the trickiest stakeholders.

We also discussed ideas for future meetups, such as:

  • Career support and mentorship opportunities
  • Learning about Information Architecture
  • Org structures and career trajectories
  • Content-first approach
  • Breaking into UX
